EDU FOOTPRINT REGIONAL EVENT

European Institute Pashko participated in the regional meeting held in the framework of the EduFootPrint project. The event took place at the municipality of Ioannina and was organized by EGTC EFXINI POLI in cooperation with IEP. The event had a transnational character and was co-financed through the Interreg Med programme. The day started with an introduction by the Vice Mayor of the Municipality of Ioannina, in charge of environmental issues, Mr. Liontos. Mr. Liontos referred to the necessity to take action towards decreasing environmental footprint of our activities and combat climate change. The municipality has the will to be active and cooperate with experts and other authorities in the European level and apply the most effective practices to reduce CO2 emissions. The conference focused on the promotion of good practices from the partner countries while the main tools produced by the project were presented by the energy expert of EGTC EFXINI POLI Mr. Konstantinos Theofylaktos. Special attention was given to the fact that the main goal of the project is to help in behavioral change and this is the reason of focusing on students and school community in general. In her presentation, Ms. Alma Fataj, Expert from IEP, referred to the Energy-Efficiency in School Buildings in Albania. She held a presentation regarding the improvements done and the current state of the sector. Last but not least, a presentation also took place regarding the financial instruments which are at the disposal of the local authorities to elevate energy efficiency of public-school buildings. Finally, the event closed after a fruitful discussion among participants and exchange of ideas both on technical but also on strategic level.
